Hi! I’m Heather.
I’m really glad you’re here!
I’m a clinical social worker & therapist with over a decade of experience doing this work. While I’m physically located in Wisconsin, I started and grew my private practice in the Hudson Valley of New York. I remain connected to the community & resources that the Hudson Valley has to offer to clients who are located there.
I am an integrative talk therapist. This means that I don’t use just one style of therapy and am often able to adapt to a client’s needs.
While I spend lots of time listening, my clients describe my approach as conversational. We discuss what’s going on in your life together, and I make observations and ask questions to help guide our work.
In addition to being a therapist, I’m a fan of the Office, astrology memes, taking walks, true crime podcasts, and plants. Sometimes I have purple hair.
There’s no toxic positivity here, but there is hope.
I believe that therapy is a relationship.
Because of this, it’s really important that a client feels comfortable. If my style doesn’t meet your needs, I will happily share names of colleagues who might be a better fit!
And if you’re looking for a therapist who strictly practices a particular type of therapy, such as CBT or EMDR, I’m happy to point you in the right direction!
Social justice issues & intersectionality are integral to my work.
As a queer person & a social worker, I know how hard it is to find therapists who work with LGBTQ+ folks on purpose and with intention,
rather than as a passing happenstance. The majority of my caseload is comprised of LGBTQ+ folks.
